LED posters
LED posters: freestanding indoor and outdoor displays
An LED poster is a freestanding, portrait LED screen you plug in and use: no wall mounting, no separate media box. It is direct-view LED, not an LCD kiosk, and buyers also know it as a digital totem or an LED standee. Our range covers 640, 960 and 1280 mm wide posters in die-cast (front service), aluminium profile 640 (rear door), double-sided, tri-fold, acrylic-screen and outdoor cabinets, with brightness from 500 nit indoors and from 4500 nit outdoors. The size is the same across types; the pixel pitch sets the resolution, and the cabinet sets how you service and move the poster. Assembled at our Shenzhen assembly factory and sold EXW / FOB Shenzhen to distributors, integrators and brands.

Cascade configurator
Build a cascade: 1 to 6 posters side by side
Pick indoor or outdoor, the width, the pixel pitch and how many posters stand in a row. The total resolution and size update instantly. The posters play one picture across all screens through a daisy chain.
Outdoor posters are 640 mm wide. Every poster stands on its own casters, so the row can be moved and set up again.

Resolution per poster comes from each model page. The number of posters one controller can drive depends on the total pixel count and the receiving cards; we confirm the wiring for your setup in the quote.
What is an LED poster?
An LED poster is a freestanding LED screen in portrait format, built from 320 × 160 mm LED modules, with a player inside. It replaces a printed poster or a light box with moving, changeable content. You load content from a phone, over a network or from a USB stick, and the poster keeps playing on its own. High refresh rates make video look smooth and reduce flicker when the screen is filmed, and brightness is adjustable, so the same poster works in a bright lobby and a dim exhibition hall. Tall freestanding screens like this are called pylons in some markets, for example in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Why resolution matters more than size
Every poster in the range has the same screen size: 640 × 1920 mm, 960 × 1920 mm or 1280 × 1920 mm. What changes with the pixel pitch is how many pixels fill that size. At P2.5 a 640 × 1920 mm poster shows 256 × 768 pixels; at P1.25 the same poster shows 512 × 1536 pixels, four times as many. More pixels give sharper text, cleaner edges and let viewers stand closer. The cabinet decides how you service and move the poster. The pitch decides how the picture looks.
The table gives the pixel resolution of one poster by pitch and size, computed from the module data.
| Pitch | LED | 640 × 1920 mm | 960 × 1920 mm | Tri-fold open, 1280 × 1920 mm | Pixels in a 640 poster | Density, px/m² | Viewing distance |

| P1.538 | SMD1212 | 416 × 1248 | 624 × 1248 | 832 × 1248 | 519,168 | 422,000 | from 1.5 m |
| P1.86 | SMD1515 | 344 × 1032 | 516 × 1032 | 688 × 1032 | 355,008 | 289,000 | from 2 m |

Outdoor posters use the same 640 × 1920 mm screen with coarser pitches for longer viewing distances:
| Pitch | LED | 640 × 1920 mm | 2 posters (1280 × 1920 mm) | 3 posters (1920 × 1920 mm) | Viewing distance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P2 | Not stated | 320 × 960 | 640 × 960 | 960 × 960 | from 2 m |
| P2.5 | SMD1515 | 256 × 768 | 512 × 768 | 768 × 768 | from 3 m |
| P3.076 | SMD1515 | 208 × 624 | 416 × 624 | 624 × 624 | from 3 m |
| P4 | SMD1921 | 160 × 480 | 320 × 480 | 480 × 480 | from 4 m |
| P5 | SMD1921 | 128 × 384 | 256 × 384 | 384 × 384 | from 5 m |
When posters are joined into one screen, the pixel counts add up. The sizes below are for indoor chains:
| Pitch | 2 × 640 poster (1280 × 1920 mm) | 3 × 640 poster (1920 × 1920 mm) | 2 × 960 poster (1920 × 1920 mm) | 3 × 960 poster (2880 × 1920 mm) | 2 × tri-fold open (2560 × 1920 mm) | 3 × tri-fold open (3840 × 1920 mm) |

Pitches never mix in one chain. Choose the pitch from the distance of your nearest viewer, and test your own artwork before you order.
Reading distance: 1, 2 and 3 meters
The minimum viewing distance in meters is roughly the pitch in millimeters. This is a guide, not a promise: it depends on your artwork, so test it at the distance of your nearest viewer.

How the types differ: the cabinet, not the size
The same 320 × 160 mm modules and the same pitches are used in the indoor types. What changes is the cabinet around them: how the poster is serviced (from the front or the back), what protects the LEDs (GOB, an acrylic glass screen or the outdoor build), whether posters can be joined, and whether the poster folds, has two faces or goes outdoors. Cabinet types explained compares them in detail.
Choose your poster type
| Type | Cabinet | Service | LED protection | Suited to | Size and pitches | Resolution at P2.5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Die-cast LED poster, 640 mm | Die-cast aluminum | Front (magnets, suction cup) or rear | GOB | Chains, frequent service, events, moving between venues (foldable, casters) | 640 × 1920 mm; P1.25 to P3.076 | 256 × 768 |
| Wide die-cast LED poster, 960 mm | Die-cast aluminum | Front | GOB | Wide portrait canvas, walls of posters | 960 × 1920 mm; P1.25 to P3.076 | 384 × 768 |
| Double-sided LED poster | Die-cast | Front | GOB | Walkways and lobbies, two faces | 2 × 640 × 1920 mm; P1.25 to P3.076 | 256 × 768 per face |
| Folding tri-fold LED poster | Hinged frame | Rear | GOB | Events and roadshows, wide screen that travels narrow, can be chained | 1280 × 1920 mm open; P1.25 to P3.076 | 512 × 768 |
| LED poster with acrylic glass screen | One-piece, acrylic glass front | Rear | Acrylic glass instead of GOB | Touched, wiped public points; when price matters most | 640 × 1920 mm; P1.538 to P3.076 | 256 × 768 |
| Outdoor LED poster, 640 mm | Fixed, foldable or die-cast | Rear | Built for outdoor use | Daylight, entrances, events outdoors | 640 × 1920 mm; P2 to P5; from 4500 nit | 256 × 768 |
GOB is included on every indoor type except the acrylic glass screen, where the glass does the protecting. A clear layer over the LEDs helps hold them in place and protects them against knocks, dust and the light moisture of normal cleaning.
Applications
Retail and shopping centers. Entrance, promotion and concourse posters that roll in place and need no wall fixing. P2.5 (256 × 768 px on a 640 poster) suits viewers from 2.5 m; the outdoor 640 suits the storefront.
Restaurants and quick service. Menu and offer boards near the counter; P1.86 or P2 where guests read at 2 m. A built-in speaker is Optional. For touched or wiped areas see the acrylic glass screen.
Hotels. Reception and lobby: events of the day, directions, restaurant and spa notices. The 960 poster gives a wider canvas at P1.86 to P2.5.
Museums and cultural venues. Program and exhibition information in portrait format, with no wall drilling; P1.538 to P1.86 where visitors read closely.
Transport. Indoor concourses and waiting areas. A daisy chain of posters can form a main information screen, for example 8 × P2.5 at 2048 × 768 px with a NovaStar controller.
Events, showrooms and exhibitions. Foldable, tri-fold and double-sided posters move easily; flight cases are Optional.
Education. Entrances, libraries, training centers and campus buildings: schedules, news and announcements.
Daisy chain, cascade, splicing: what the words mean
Buyers use several words for joining posters. Daisy chain or cascade means the video signal runs from one poster to the next, from the HDMI output of one to the input of the next. Splicing means placing posters edge to edge so they read as one wider screen. Showing the same content on separate posters is something else: it is synchronized playback, and it needs no chain. Splitting one picture across several posters is what the chain is for. We use daisy chain as the main term. Which posters can join is stated on each page: double-sided and acrylic posters stand alone, while die-cast and tri-fold posters can be chained.
Control systems
- NovaStar control + Mean Well power supplies: the default set.
- Huidu or Colorlight control: a lower-cost option.
The control system is chosen to your task and does not depend on the cabinet. Receiving cards and controller are matched to one brand, so state your system when you ask for a quote. In a daisy chain a cascade controller replaces the control card in each poster. With a NovaStar controller, up to 8 posters chain at P2.5 and up to 6 at P1.86; with a Huidu controller up to 6 at P1.25 (these figures apply to the 640 die-cast poster). For other pitches and types, including aluminium profile 640 posters with rear door and tri-fold posters, the number of posters in one cascade is set by the total pixel count the controller and its receiving cards can drive, so it depends on the pitch. At the same pitch a 960 poster carries 1.5 times the pixels of a 640 poster and an open tri-fold twice as many, so fewer of them fit on one controller. We calculate it for your layout; tell us the width you need. Pitches never mix in one chain.

Questions about LED posters
Is an LED poster the same as an LCD kiosk?
No. An LED poster is direct-view LED: the picture is formed by the LED modules themselves, not by an LCD panel behind glass. It is a complete unit: cabinet, modules, player, receiving cards and power supplies come assembled, and you plug it in and load content over Wi-Fi, LAN or USB.
Which type should I start with if I am unsure?
For most uses start with the die-cast 640: GOB, casters, joining into a wall, and front service (die-cast) or a rear door (aluminium profile 640). For touched public points, or when price matters most, see the acrylic glass screen.
Posters are the same size, so what do I actually choose?
The pixel pitch. A 640 × 1920 mm poster shows 256 × 768 pixels at P2.5 and 512 × 1536 at P1.25. The pitch sets sharpness and the closest comfortable viewing distance; the cabinet sets how you service and move the poster.
What can people read from 1, 2 and 3 meters?
As a guide, the minimum viewing distance in meters is roughly the pitch in millimeters. From 1 m choose P1.25; at 2 m P1.86 or P2 is where small text becomes comfortable; at 3 m P2.5 or P3.076 is enough. The table in the section on reading distance shows the pixels of each option. Send us your artwork and the distance of your nearest viewer, and we advise before you order.
Can posters of different pitch be joined?
No. Pitches never mix in one chain. Two 640 posters make 1280 × 1920 mm (portrait), three make 1920 × 1920 mm (square). Double-sided and acrylic posters do not chain; die-cast and tri-fold posters can be chained.
Our country uses a different plug and power standard. Can you supply it?
Yes. Tell us your country and your local requirements, and we match the power cord. We ask for all your local requirements up front, before production, so the order matches what you need. See power plugs and voltages by country. Other power supplies are available (Optional).
Which control system can I choose?
NovaStar control with Mean Well power supplies is the default set, Huidu or Colorlight is a lower-cost option. Receiving cards and controller are matched to one brand, so name your system when you ask for a quote.
How do I update the content, and what happens without Wi-Fi?
Over Wi-Fi from a phone or laptop, over LAN or from a USB stick. The poster stores the content and keeps playing it on its own, so it does not need Wi-Fi to show what is already loaded. Wi-Fi, LAN or USB are needed only when you change the content. 4G for remote updates is Optional.
How are the posters shipped, and which customs code do I use?
In a cardboard box with foam inserts as standard; flight cases and wooden crates are Optional. The packing list for your order states the weight and size of every piece. We sell EXW / FOB Shenzhen. Finished display devices are usually declared under HS 8528.59; check the code with your customs broker, because it can differ by country.
What about warranty and spare parts?
The warranty is 2 years, with repair at the factory. Spare parts are sold separately and the buyer pays freight. Other terms are quoted per order.
