What is a 960 × 1920 mm LED poster?

A 960 × 1920 mm LED poster is a wider version of the portrait poster: the same 320 × 160 mm modules, three across and twelve high, in the same die-cast cabinet design as the 640. The extra width makes the picture 1.5 times as wide and gives it 1.5 times as many pixels at the same pitch. In some markets this wider format is sold as a pylon display for lobbies and showrooms; it is direct-view LED, not an LCD kiosk.

What is different about this cabinet

Front service. Each module is held by magnets and comes out from the front with a suction cup. At this size the poster is heavier and wider to turn, so being able to leave it where it stands matters more than on the 640.

Wider canvas, same modules. Spare modules are the same part as on the 640 at the same pitch.

Die-cast aluminum and GOB. Accurate cabinet edges for joining, and a clear protective layer over the LEDs. A clear protective layer over the LEDs helps hold them in place and protects them against knocks, dust and the light moisture of normal cleaning. It is for indoor use.

Stand included. The poster ships with its stand.

Resolution and pitch: choose the picture quality

Every poster in the range has the same screen size: 640 × 1920 mm, 960 × 1920 mm or 1280 × 1920 mm. What changes with the pixel pitch is how many pixels fill that size. At P2.5 a 640 × 1920 mm poster shows 256 × 768 pixels; at P1.25 the same poster shows 512 × 1536 pixels, four times as many. More pixels give sharper text, cleaner edges and let viewers stand closer. The cabinet decides how you service and move the poster. The pitch decides how the picture looks. On the 960 × 1920 mm poster the same logic applies: at P2.5 you get 384 × 768 pixels, at P1.25 768 × 1536.

Pitch LED 1 poster (960 × 1920 mm) Pixels per poster 2 posters (1920 × 1920 mm) 3 posters (2880 × 1920 mm) Viewing distance
P1.25 SMD1010 768 × 1536 1,179,648 1536 × 1536 2304 × 1536 from 1 m
P1.538 SMD1212 624 × 1248 778,752 1248 × 1248 1872 × 1248 from 1.5 m
P1.86 SMD1515 516 × 1032 532,512 1032 × 1032 1548 × 1032 from 2 m
P2 SMD1515 480 × 960 460,800 960 × 960 1440 × 960 from 2 m
P2.5 SMD2121 384 × 768 294,912 768 × 768 1152 × 768 from 3 m
P3.076 SMD2121 312 × 624 194,688 624 × 624 936 × 624 from 3 m

Two 960 posters side by side make 1920 × 1920 mm (square); three make 2880 × 1920 mm. The pixel counts are for the whole joined screen. Measure the distance of your closest viewer: for 2 to 3 m P1.86 to P2.5 is a typical range, and for close reading at about 1.5 m look at P1.538. Check your own artwork before ordering.

Where it is used

Hotel lobbies and receptions. A wide portrait screen for events of the day, restaurant and spa notices and directions. P1.86 or P2 for text read at 2 m.

Showrooms and dealerships. Product films and model information visible across the room; P2.5 (384 × 768 px) for viewers from 2.5 m.

Exhibition stands and events. One wide poster, or two or three side by side for a larger canvas.

Shopping centers. Information points and promotions where a 640 mm screen feels narrow.

Museums, schools and universities. Program boards and schedules at entrances and foyers.

Control and options

  • NovaStar control + Mean Well power supplies: the default set.
  • Huidu or Colorlight control: a lower-cost option.

Receiving cards and controller are matched to one brand, so name your system when you ask for a quote. Content loads over Wi-Fi, LAN or USB (4G Optional), and the poster then plays on its own, with no computer connected.

Optional: alternative LED brands; built-in speaker; hanging rings; 4G module; flight case (non-standard size, made to order); wooden crate; OEM logo, labels, packaging and documents. Power supply can be changed (Optional).

Daisy chain

Posters stand side by side, and the video signal runs from the HDMI output of one poster to the input of the next. Pitches never mix in one chain. The cascade controller replaces the control card in each poster, so choose it when you order. Two posters make 1920 × 1920 mm, three make 2880 × 1920 mm; the pixel counts are in the table above. The number of posters in one cascade is set by the total pixel count that the controller and its receiving cards can drive, so it depends on the pitch: a finer pitch puts more pixels in each poster, so fewer posters fit on one controller. We calculate it for your layout. Give us the width you need.

Packaging and shipping

Each 960 poster ships in a standard cardboard box with foam inserts, like the 640 posters; the stand is packed separately. A flight case for the 960 poster is a non-standard size and is made to order; for regular transport we recommend a wooden crate. The packing list sent before shipment states the exact weight and size of every piece. See packaging and shipping. We sell EXW / FOB Shenzhen.

Front service

The die-cast 960 is front service only. Each module is held by magnets and comes off the front with a suction cup, so the poster can stand flat against a wall or in a tight row and roll into place on its casters. The 960 has no rear service version; a rear door is offered only on the aluminium profile cabinet of the Indoor 640.

Questions about this poster

Why 960 mm instead of two 640 posters?

One 960 poster is a single cabinet with one stand and one player, so you set up and move one unit. Two 640 posters give a wall that you can split again into two separate posters, and they are joined with the daisy chain.

What resolution do I get at 960 mm wide?

The resolution depends on the pitch. P2.5 gives 384 × 768 pixels, P1.86 gives 516 × 1032, P1.25 gives 768 × 1536. Both width and height are counted from the 320 × 160 mm modules, three across and twelve high.

Can I change a module without moving the poster?

Yes. Modules come out from the front with a suction cup.

Can I mix 640 and 960 posters in one wall?

Pitches never mix in one chain. Posters of different widths are not planned as one cascade by default. A 960 poster carries 1.5 times the pixels of a 640 poster at the same pitch, and the controller's total pixel count sets the limit, so tell us the wall you have in mind, with the pitch and the width, and we calculate what can be joined.

Which pitch for a lobby?

Measure the distance of your closest viewer. Roughly, the pitch in millimeters is the minimum distance in meters. For viewers 2 to 3 m away, P1.86 to P2.5 is a typical range. The modules are the same 320 × 160 mm as on the 640, so a spare module fits both formats at the same pitch.

How many 960 posters can I chain?

The number of posters in one cascade is set by the total pixel count that the controller and its receiving cards can drive, so it depends on the pitch: a finer pitch puts more pixels in each poster, so fewer posters fit on one controller. We calculate it for your layout. Give us the width you want. Pitches never mix in one chain.

Will my existing 640 artwork fit a 960 × 1920 mm canvas?

The height is the same at the same pitch, so the artwork keeps its height and needs more width. At P2 a 640 poster is 320 × 960 pixels and a 960 poster is 480 × 960 pixels, which is half as wide again. Extend the background by 160 pixels or place the old artwork centered with side bars. At other pitches the proportion is the same: the 960 canvas is 1.5 times the width of the 640 canvas.

Can I run it as a portrait and as a landscape wall?

The poster is built as a portrait screen. A landscape wall is made by chaining several posters side by side, as in the table above; tell us the size you need.
