LED poster control systems: NovaStar default; Huidu or Colorlight lower-cost

Every LED poster has a control system: a player that holds your content and receiving cards that drive the modules. NovaStar with Mean Well power supplies is the default set, Huidu or Colorlight is a lower-cost option. The system is picked to match your team and your software, and it does not depend on the cabinet type.

Three control systems for LED posters
Main set and cheaper option

What the control system does

The player stores the content and plays it on its own, so the poster needs no computer and no media box. The receiving cards inside the poster take the picture and drive the LED modules. You load content over Wi-Fi from a phone or laptop, over LAN or from a USB stick; 4G for remote updates is Optional. Stored content keeps playing if the network drops.

Main set and cheaper option

NovaStar with Mean Well PSU is the default; Huidu or Colorlight is offered as a lower-cost option. Pick the one your team already uses or the one your software supports: if you run signage software for one of the three, order that system and the learning curve stays small. We do not rank them, and none of them is the default.

Receiving cards in a poster

The number of receiving cards depends on the type, the width and the pitch. It runs from 1 to 8 per poster: a wider poster and a finer pitch have more pixels to drive, so they need more cards. The cards and the controller of one poster belong to one system, and so do all posters in one wall.

Controllers for a cascade

In a daisy chain the cascade controller replaces the control card in each poster, so name it when you ask for a quote. The number of posters in a cascade is set by the total pixels the controller and its cards can drive. For the 640 die-cast poster, these cascade limits apply:

Control system Pitch Posters in one cascade
NovaStar P2.5 up to 8
NovaStar P1.86 up to 6
Huidu P1.25 up to 6

For other pitches, other types or a longer wall, tell us the width and the pitch and we calculate the layout for you.

Why we don't list exact controller models

Controller models change every year, and the right one depends on your screen size, how many posters you link in cascade and how you plan to send content. So we name the system, not the part number. Our standard set is a NovaStar control system with a Mean Well power supply. A Huidu set is a lower-cost option, and Colorlight is also available. Tell us how you will use the posters, and we will confirm the exact controller in your quote.

What to tell us

State the system you want (NovaStar by default; Huidu or Colorlight as a lower-cost option), or the system your team already runs. Add the pitch, the number of posters and, for a wall, the width of the picture you need. If you have no preference, say so and the quotation lists the options.

After the order

Content is prepared at the native pixel size of your poster or wall; see the content formats guide for the sizes and the resolution guide for the pixel counts.

Questions and answers

Does the brand change how the picture looks?

The picture quality comes from the pixel pitch and the modules. The control system changes how you load and manage content, not the poster itself.

Is NovaStar the standard for posters?

No. NovaStar with Mean Well power supplies is the default set, Huidu or Colorlight is a lower-cost option.

Can I mix brands inside one wall?

No. The receiving cards and the controller of a poster belong to one system, and all posters in one wall use the same one.

Can I switch brand after the purchase?

Changing brand means changing the cards and the controller, because they are matched. Decide before you order.

Which controller joins eight posters at P2.5?

A NovaStar controller joins up to 8 640 die-cast posters at P2.5 and up to 6 at P1.86. A Huidu controller joins up to 6 at P1.25.

Does the control system need a PC running next to the poster?

No. The player holds the content, and the poster plays it on its own.

How many receiving cards does my poster need?

It depends on the type, width and pitch. A poster uses 1 to 8 cards, and your quotation states the number.

Which system do I name if I have no preference?

Say that you have no preference. Then the quotation lists the options: NovaStar with Mean Well as the default set, Huidu or Colorlight as a lower-cost option.
