NovaStar by default, Huidu or Colorlight: control systems

NovaStar control with Mean Well power supplies is the default set, Huidu or Colorlight is a lower-cost option. NovaStar is a popular choice, but that does not make it the rule. This article lists the questions that decide, so you can name your system in the request without guesswork.

What the system is for

The control system loads and plays your content and drives the modules. The player stores the content, so the poster needs no computer. The picture quality comes from the pixel pitch and the modules, and it does not change with the brand.

What decides the choice between NovaStar (default) and lower-cost Huidu or Colorlight

Decision 1: what does your team already use?

If your team runs signage software for one of the three, order that system. It is the fastest way to a working poster, because no one has to learn a new tool. If you manage other screens with the same system, the posters join the same workflow.

Decision 2: do you plan a wall?

In a chain the cascade controller replaces the control card in each poster, and the number of posters depends on the total pixels the controller can drive. For the 640 die-cast poster, a NovaStar controller joins up to 8 posters at P2.5 and up to 6 at P1.86, and a Huidu controller joins up to 6 at P1.25. See the controllers guide and the cascade guide.

Decision 3: how will you update?

Content loads over Wi-Fi from a phone or laptop, over LAN or from USB, and 4G for remote updates is Optional. The files and the playlist options follow the control software of the system, so choose the system with the update workflow you like.

Decision 4: one brand per wall

The receiving cards and the controller of a poster belong to one system, and all posters in a wall use the same one. Decide before the order, since changing brand later means changing the cards and the controller.

What to write in the request

The system you want, or the one you already use, the pitch, the number of posters and the width of the wall. If you have no preference, say so and the quotation lists the options.
