Guide

LED poster brightness guide

Brightness is measured in nits (candelas per square meter). Our indoor LED posters start at 500 nit, which is set for normal indoor lighting. The outdoor poster starts at 4500 nit, about nine times as bright, so it can be read in daylight. This guide explains which one fits where.

Direct sun lowers contrast

As with any LED screen, direct sun on the front lowers contrast. Place the poster out of direct sunlight where you can choose the position. Face an outdoor poster away from the low sun.

Behind a store window

An indoor poster behind glass works, but direct sun on the screen lowers contrast, and glass can reflect lights and windows. If the window gets direct sun, look at the outdoor poster: it starts at 4500 nit. In ordinary indoor light that much brightness is not needed and the indoor poster is the better fit.

Acrylic glass and reflections

A glass front, such as the LED poster with acrylic glass screen, can show reflections of windows and lights. Place the poster away from direct light behind the viewer and test your content.

Dimming and scheduling

On the outdoor poster the player schedules brightness by time of day: bright in daylight, lower in the evening to avoid glare and cut consumption.

Choose with a test

Brightness needs depend on the place. Tell us the position (window, entrance, hall) and the time of day it is seen, and we advise.

When should I choose the outdoor poster?

When the screen sees daylight or direct sun: a storefront, an entrance, an outdoor event.

Can I use the outdoor poster indoors?

No. The viewing distance is set by the pixel pitch.

Will the screen look different through a phone camera?

It can. Refresh rate and shutter speed matter; test with your own phone.
