LED poster content creation checklist

A good LED poster picture is mostly good preparation. This checklist walks through the steps from the first sketch to the file on the poster, using the pixel counts of your pitch and your viewing distance.

  • 8 steps
  • Native pixel size

1. Know your canvas

Find the native pixel size in the content formats guide: for example 256 × 768 for a 640 poster at P2.5. For a wall, use the total width.

2. Know your viewer

Write down the distance of the closest viewer. The pitch guide turns it into a choice: the pixel pitch guide.

3. Keep it short

A narrow canvas holds few words per line. Use large, short lines, one message per screen, and a clear contrast between text and background.

4. Work at native size

Make the artwork at the poster's pixel size, or at an exact multiple of it, so edges stay clean.

5. Check near the edges

Keep important text a little away from the edges, and check how each poster in a wall shows its part of the picture.

6. Test on the real poster

Load the files through Wi-Fi, LAN or USB, stand at the viewing distance and read the screen. Check it again in the light of the real place, with daylight if there is any.

7. Filming

If people will film the poster with phones, test with a phone. The refresh rate is 3840 Hz or higher, which reduces visible flicker on camera, but it also depends on the phone.

8. Keep the source files

Keep the editable files for later changes. The poster stores the content and plays it on its own.

Questions and answers

What is the most common mistake?

Too much text for the number of pixels. A narrow canvas needs short lines.

Should I make the file bigger than the canvas?

Work at the native size, or an exact multiple of it, so the picture scales cleanly.

How do I check legibility before ordering?

Send us your artwork and the viewing distance, and we advise on the pitch.

How do I design for a wall?

Design one canvas at the total pixel width, for example 768 × 768 pixels for three 640 posters at P2.5.

Does the daylight matter?

Yes. Direct sun on the screen lowers contrast, so check the content in the light of the real place.

How do I test with a phone camera?

Film the screen at the viewing distance with the phone your audience uses; the result depends on the phone and the shutter speed.

Can I update content later?

Yes, over Wi-Fi, LAN or USB; 4G is Optional for remote updates.

Who can help me with the design?

Send the brief and the artwork with your request, and we check the pitch and the pixel size.
